    Hi,

I’m using the seo plugin Rank Math and wanted to ask if this seo components will still exist in the amp version? The plugin AMP for WP has an option for this, but fails to load analytics and doesn’t allow any css file of plugins and I would prefer the official one.

Will this plugin change it in a way that Google will show two sites, one for AMP and the original one? Because I don’t want something like that.

Yes, Rank Math has compatibility with the plugin and is listed on our Ecosystem page as a recommendation. It will print its SEO markup AMP URLs.

This depends on which template mode you choose in the settings. Reader and Transitional modes provide a paired experience where an AMP version of your site is served alongside your original site. Transitional mode will use your current theme’s templates to render the AMP version, while Reader mode (and its themes) serves a different site experience for AMP by default. Reader mode is best to use when your theme and plugins are not fully AMP compatible.

Standard Mode serves your site as fully AMP (only one version), however you’ll want to make sure your theme and plugins are AMP compatible. Check our Ecosystem page for some options.

    Thank you for the answer!

Actually I have a lot of non-amp-plugins (or at least not fully amp) and trying to use my standard theme for AMP (Gridlove), too. There are also some codings that aren’t AMP, but most of the theme is. Just surpressing the plugins that have excessive css should fix this, right?

Because I just want one version on Google, which includes the amp for mobile devices, I can only use the standard mode, as you said.

Plugins like WP Review and maybe TotalPoll Pro (lite version can be found on WP.org) are the ones that I need. I also use more plugins like wpDiscuz, but using the theme version of the comments for amp would be fine for me. I guess front-end plugins aren’t that important for AMP, right? As far as the scripts don’t load on normal sites.

Also, is there any way to disable single sites for amp? For example, my startpage isn’t AMP in cause of some theme files that aren’t compatible. And I guess for Google this shouldn’t be that interesting if the start page works. And do I have to review every site for AMP?

I can link you my website, if you want to look into my issue. Currently I’m using AMP for WP, as I said before, because this works for me, but the problem is that this blocks all plugin css files and doesn’t support the original theme which has a mobile view. I want to make clear, that I’m new to the whole AMP thing and used my normal website with mobile view for years until last week or so. But I want to support AMP, so my visitors benefit from a better experience.

    Best regards,
    Bastbra

@comicschau thanks for this information and I can certainly understand the endeavor. Standard mode is what we hope everyone can achieve, however if your theme and plugins are not currently AMP compatible it may take some steps to get there.

From what I can tell, the Gridlove theme, WP Review and TotalPoll Pro plugins do not state AMP compatibility. So there is a possibility that they can add invalid markup (like custom JavaScript) or affect CSS limits (75kb limit) which are some of the restrictions in the AMP specification. WP Disqus also doesn’t state automatic AMP compatibility, however there are some manual examples of how to configure it available on their Github repository (example one, example two).

Using the Plugin suppression feature may help if the invalid aspects on AMP URLs originate from a plugin. Additionally, the plugin has an internal validation tool which automatically removes invalid markup from AMP URLs by default. Note that this may result in visual and perhaps functionality differences from the original URLs when using Standard and Transitional mode since code is removed to ensure a valid AMP page is served. You can also choose which pages are served as AMP in the settings (by content/ template type) and on individual pages in the editor.

If you are aiming towards Standard mode, but are not sure of the compatibility status of your theme or plugins I recommend the following:

    1) Inquire with the authors of your theme and plugins to see if they currently have or are planning to add AMP compatibility.
    2) Check the Ecosystem page to see if there are potentially other AMP compatible options you can use.
    3) If you would like to experiment to see how your site works with AMP, you can try Transitional mode which will still serve the original site along with an AMP version. That way you can evaluate the AMP version to see what the validation tool says about potentially offending markup.

Then you can plan a path toward serving your site as fully AMP.

Okay, even if I don’t think that the theme and plugin developer will add this in the near future, I will try it! Thank you!
