Rank Math makes Elementor editor horribly slow

    Hello Rank Math,

    I have been very happy with your plugin. It’s a refreshing change from Yoast. However, I am having horrible problems with it tonight.

    Every time I load or save a post in my Elementor editor, it takes FOREVER. Probably between 2-3 minutes on average, but sometimes longer.

    I noticed it was especially bad when I tried to edit the SEO data in the Rank Math area in Elementor. I wasn’t even saving the file, but just typing or clicking around in the Rank Math area. This caused Elementor to freeze for 2-3 minutes.

    I then realized that the issue might be caused by Rank Math, so I deactivated it and went back into Elementor to edit my post. I was able to save my post quickly again, in less than 30 seconds, with no freezing.

    I went back and reactivated Rank Math, and the freezing and slow saving returned. ?? This is frustrating and a shame as I really want to use Rank Math. However, if it creates so much delay in my workflow, I can’t justify using it.

    Do you have any fixes for this issue?

  • Can you use Rank Math with just the WP post editor? I use Elementor mostly for templates rather than building every single page/post/review but even if you built a page in Elementor, you should be able to edit it via WP.

    It doesn’t directly address your concern, however might be a good way to continue using Rank Math & Elementor together. (I have a feeling support might come back and say that it’s an Elementor issue because it occurs in Elementor’s builder.)

    Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins, themes, and WordPress (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

    Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

    @dilbert16588 Thanks so much for your reply. Very kind of you.

    If I wasn’t a super-picky designer who wants to control my layouts down to the pixel, I would add you’ve suggested and build templates in Elementor then edit them in WordPress.

    Unfortunately, I can’t get past my controlling nature and perfectionism, so I’m stuck with working in Elementor! I appreciate your help, though. Very grateful for your time. ??

    Thanks again for the help with this. I installed Health Check as per the link you sent, and I figured it out! You were right—it’s not Rank Math, but Anywhere Elementor.

    I’ve contacted the developers of that plugin to let them know. Hopefully they’ll have an answer for me. Thanks again for your support.

    UPDATE: I ran some more tests, and found that I get the same results by turning off Rank Math while leaving Anywhere Elementor on.

    That is: everything works fine when only Rank Math or Anywhere Elementor is activated. When both are activated, that’s when there are issues. Any ideas on why this might be?

    I’m so grateful for your assistance with this. Based on my own and your troubleshooting as well as that from the team at Anywhere Elementor, I believe the problem lies in a couple of my posts that may be corrupt.

    When I removed specific elements, then added them back in, the files loaded and saved with no problem. I think what I need to do is rebuild those posts from scratch. Hopefully, that will solve the issues for good.

    I wouldn’t have been able to figure this out without your help, especially for showing me how to use the Health Check plugin.

    THANK YOU for all the time you took to help me. I’m so impressed with your plugin and the support, and thrilled that it was user error… because that means I can happily keep using Rank Math!
