Traffic from one site

    Hi,

    I recently realized in my statistics that I receive daily traffic from a website called rank-checker.online.

    Not sure but I think it comes from Russia.

    Do you guys have an idea about it?

    Should be worried about this?

    Any searches I do for it come up to WordPress plug-ins. Have you checked your downloaded plug-ins to see if there is one that you may have accidentally or purposefully long ago downloaded that you just forgot? Rank checker apparently checks your current website ratings as the name might imply. I’d check my own to see if I have it also but my website is currently down.

    I’d be 99.999% sure that’s referrer SPAM. It’s getting mor eand more common, and is somewhere between useless and annoying.

    What they do is hope that either people looking at the stats will see the referrerls in the tats lists and link back to their site, or go and buy their services, or they’ll hope that the logs are public and they’ll get backlinks from the referrer entries.

    it’s all pretty much bad SEO practice on thei rpart, and the bad thing is that there’s not much that you can do about it because those things are all recorded by the server way before it even gets to the WordPress system.

    You can filter out things like this in you ranalytics programs (most times) or you can talk to your hosting company to see if they can do anything about it.
