We’ve been working with a set of μ sites for a university’s faculties sites, and we’ve found that apparently after a random period of time, posts permalink redirections break, making posts unaccessible (even though pages work fine). Prior to that, permalinks work ok; regenerating permalinks rules (by going into the admin->permalinks and saving with no changes) fix the problem

    Our permalink structure it’s /blog/%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%/

It seems that this it’s not necessarily linked with the publication of a page or post.

The sites are running on a lighttpd server.

Has anyone seen this kind of problem? Any solutions or ideas about it?

  • We’ve been working with a set of μ sites for a university’s faculties sites,

Are you actually using wpmu, or are you usine 3.0.x?

Because this was an issue with some version of mu. Things like adding a user reset permalinks. Please make sure you’re using the latest code.

And in 3.o and up, it’s multisite. ??

If you are on the latest, then you’ll have to narrow down this random bit because something is resetting it.

We were using μ, but this it’s the definitive incentive we needed to migrate all of these sites… so right now I’m on it ??

Thanks for your quick and kind answer
