• My websites all have these weird random links to pdf’s on them. Some of them link back to my own site, some of them link to other sites that have nothing to do with me but also appear to have the pdf link hack.

    Where do I even begin?

Two of my sites won’t load at all nor can I log in to the back end.

    homesforsalelondon.ca
webdesignlondonontario.com (view source to see pdf links)
westernurealestate.com(view source to see pdf links)
caringforparents.ca See the random “Rabinic Judaism” link in the About section. This one links to the website neotek.toocoolsolutions.com which appears to have the same problem (and is not one of my sites nor with the same hosting provider).

Any have experience with this particular problem? The root site is kristinabradley.com I’ve already checked htaccess and index.php on a few of them and nothing looks amiss. I can’t update wordpress or download any plugins.

    I get

Download failed.: Could not open handle for fopen() to /home/xxx/public_html/caringforparents.ca/wp-content/uploads/wordpress-4.5-no-content-D33OzD.tmp

    Installation Failed

    TIA!

a few thoughts…to start to narrow the issue:
are all sites hosted in same place/in same account?
    is this a multi-site installation?
are you the only admin/author/editor of the sites?
do you have a backup for each of the sites?
can you see the proper content in the database for each site?

I don’t see the link as described.
caringforparents.ca See the random “Rabinic Judaism” link in the About section. This one links to the website neotek.toocoolsolutions.com which appears to have the same problem.

Yes my sites are all hosted from the same hosting account. The website neotek.toocoolsolutions.com is not mine, the Rabinic Judaism pdf on caringforparents.ca (mine) links to that site and I see pdf links on the neotek site that lead to another site that has the pdf random link dropping on it as well.

But all the other sites mentioned are mine and are hosted in the same place as subfolders of kristinabradley.com

It is not a multisite installation (i dont think, they are all separate wordpress installations with separate databases).
Do you see the random pdf links on homesforsalelondon.ca? or in the source code for the other sites?

Just tried to log in to phpmyadmin and got the error

I do not have a backup.

are you saying you can’t get any access to PHPMYADMIN in your webhosting area to even look at the database tables containing your content?
do you have the correct access username and password for your database are?
do you think your webhosting account may be overloaded/at capacity?
can you check your error logs in webhosting account?

Yes my webhosting was overloaded and I can access it now. So most of the sites are using a shared database apparently. And one is not and it doesn’t have the random links.

I will start looking…any tips on what to look for in the meantime?

Yes i do see my original content in the databases.

sounds like you are on the path to sort out your content.

take is slow sorting the situation out–especially since you mentioned no backup is available

chat with your host to see if it’s advisable to give each site a space of it’s own

i can see how things could get jumbled and cross contaminated if everything is combined
