random page button repeats the same page every time

Hi I have a random blog entry button running on in WordPress so users can look at random entries (cartoons). Comicpress is also installed.

Since installing W3 total cache the random blog button keeps returning the same page it loaded the first time I used it – repeatedly – every time. Everything else is fine and page load times are much better. W3TC works a treat.

I think it’s returning the page cached in the browser. It’s instantaneous.

the url the random button generates is https://stooryduster.co.uk/?random&nocache=1

In W3 Total-cache under ‘Page cache’ ‘Cache URIs with query string variables’ box is not ticked. Which I assume means its not caching anything with a question mark in it.

In W3 Total-cache under ‘browser cache’ should I add */?random&nocache=1 to the ‘prevent caching exceptions list’?

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.
