I have image grids (grid type) set to order by “random order”. My expectation is that the images and/or portfolios would appear in my 3 column 6 total images on a page in a random order. Instead they seem to be showing up as last portfolio/image added is the first one show and so on. Meaning it appears they are in “creation” order versus random order.

Here is a page where the items should be appearing in random order (hopefully driven by category name) but are appearing in order of “creation” date.

How is random order suppose to work?

Related to this is is possible to be able to specify the actual order of the grid items or so I have to go in an alter the created date of each item (portfolio or media items) in the grid then specify order by date?

    Thanks
    David

OK. I spoke a bit too soon. While the random order is working it does not work well if there is more than one page of items in a grid. You cannot see all the items as you page through.

For example on this page https://ctgmadev.experttechnicaltraining.com/ there is a grid of 2 rows by 3 columns set to random order. There is however 6 pages of items to view. When filtering by “ALL” and moving to the next page(s) the order is still random and often brings up items from the previously viewed page(s). So it is possible one may never see all the items when viewing all the pages.

Not sure this is something easily fixed. I would see the solution as something similar to other plugins that allow for priority ordering of items using its own item (portfolio/image) builder (see this example plugin https://codecanyon.net/item/team-showcase-wordpress-plugin/4936368 showing drag and drop reordering).

So for example in the data source screen of your plugin if there is something to set order to manual priority and then below it shows the items generated from the data source with the ability to set priority number or drag and drop a sequence then it would be possible to arrange a complete set of items manually and assure they can all be seen via the pagination feature.

Until then random order may not work for my needs and I may just go in and alter the item creation date in the sequence I want to see thing page by page and then set “order by” to “by Date”.

Checking in on the status of this. My last response from 1 week 2 days ago still outlines an issue with the random feature.

    Please advise.

    Thanks
