random image rotator with URL

I’m looking for a solution that will show a random image in my sidebar each time the page loads. I need the image to link to a page within my site – same page for each image in the gallery.

I’m using the Thesis theme, and Thesis Open Hooks plugin, but I don’t mind if the solution is html/php that will run in a sidebar widget, javascript or a plugin, just as long as it isn’t Flash, and it must only show a single static image each time.

Some people have recommended NextGEN Gallery with the NextGEN Custom Fields plugin and a hack to the “nextgen-gallery/view/gallery.php” code, but I want to use NextGEN with it’s effects elsewhere on the site.

My coding skills are pretty limited btw – think “cut+paste” and you’re about there!
