When I add this widget into a widget area, everything within the widget settings works as expected, but when I check to see the result on the front end of my site, all of the icons are random:

This plugin is pretty perfect besides this issue which is pretty major. Any idea how to fix this?

Are you able to link to a live page that displays the issue? It would be helpful to see the problem on a live site – I’d be happy to take a look for you!

If the site’s not live yet, the link to your screenshot seems to redirect to a Google “Request Access” prompt. Do you have a link to a public screenshot you can share? You can upload it to https://imgur.com/ if you’d like to.

Amazing response time!! Maybe this link will work better:

Here’s a link to the site which is in development:

Scroll to the bottom of the page in the footer area and you’ll see the orange icons.

    Thanks for your time!

Thanks for sharing those links – that’s been very helpful!

It looks like your theme is using a custom build of the Fontello font that Simple Social Icons also uses:

    Your theme: https://henry.webbridgestudios.com/wp-content/themes/dt-the7/css/fontello/css/fontello.css?ver=1.0.0

    Simple Social Icons: https://henry.webbridgestudios.com/wp-content/plugins/simple-social-icons/css/style.css?ver=1.0.5

Both fonts are referred to as ‘fontello’, but the theme’s font is the last to be loaded, so the icons from the theme version of the font are appearing in your footer instead of the plugin font icons.

To fix this for now, you could edit the file at /wp-content/plugins/simple-social-icons/css/style.css, remove the contents, and paste the content at this URL in instead: https://d.pr/bfSr

After saving that file and clearing your browser cache, you should find that the icons behave as you expect. e.g. https://d.pr/i/1lJ6x

(If this fixes things for you, I’ll submit this as a pull request to the development team.)

    Just wondering – you said:

“If this fixes things for you, I’ll submit this as a pull request to the development team”

Does this mean that you’re going to suggest that they override the style.css that ships with the plugin so that this doesn’t happen again? If so, what about all the other users where this isn’t an issue?

    Cheers!

Yes, it would prevent conflicts with other themes and plugins that use Fontello, without breaking things for existing users.

Amazing support I must say. This plugin is at the top of my list after testing many today. Thanks again!
