• I use random header images on my website and occasionally a web page appears without any header image, which really messes up the design. When I look at the “Custom Header” page, I see in the “Uploaded Images” section there are two radio buttons without any pictures next to them (probably pictures that I deleted from my media library). How do I get rid of these radio buttons because I think that’s what’s causing some web pages to appear without a header image.

  • It sounds like you’re using a plugin, as the functionality you’re describing is not part of the core WordPress software. It would probably be best to ask this question in the support forum for that plugin.

    No, I’m not using a plug-in. I may not be describing the problem clearly. The ability to use multiple header images randomly is part of the core WordPress software under Appearance–Header. I am using the Twenty Eleven theme.

    Ah ok, my mistake. I didn’t realize that was part of Twenty Eleven. I’m not familiar with that theme or that functionality so I’ll need to defer to someone who’s worked with it before.

    you might have just deleted those images from the uploads folder;
    have you checked the ‘Media’ ‘Library’ for those images, and removed them from there?

    Problem resolved! I followed the posts in the link above and rebuilt my media library and deleted all the photos that no longer had images attached. It took quite some time, though (I use many photos in my website). Doesn’t it seem like a programming error that the photo images disappear in the media library? Would be great if this could be fixed. But thanks very much for the information, alchymyth.
