I’m getting random Database Loading Errors after the update. I use Divi and lost a full day of work due to this error after it prevented the pages from saving to the database. My site would not display the changes, so I decided to deactivate some plugins to find the issue. I also noticed long loading times as well but proceeded to look for the problem, I found that Wordfence was the culprit.

After deactivating it, the changes I made were deleted along with the pages… I had to run a backup to retrieve them, download them, and then deactivate the plugin again to upload and apply them. The work I did on the pages that day however was lost. After reactivating the plugin and updating it to the recent update I noticed longer loading times like before but also followed by an occasional blank screen and Database Loading error.

The pages are normal block-built pages, with no coding just straightforward stuff so im puzzled by why this is happening.

Hi @karoocreative, sorry to hear you had some setbacks with modifying your site.

Firstly, are there any specific database error messages you’ve seen? If you have, they’d be really useful to assist you on a possible cause. The reason I ask this is because the problem sounds like Divi may have been caught with false-positive blocks in the background when trying to update rather than a failure writing to your database.

Could you try making similar (but much smaller) updates in the same way that was previously failing but with Learning Mode enabled? From the Wordfence Dashboard click on Manage WAF. Then you will see Basic Firewall Options > Web Application Firewall Status. Change the option to Learning Mode. This should teach Wordfence your update attempts are normal and should be allowed through in future. After your testing, switch the WAF from Learning Mode back to Enabled and Protecting.

Let me know if that helps resolve the saving issue. However, if you’re still experiencing the saving or site speed issues it’d be great if you could drop us a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com so we can take a look at your configuration. Use the link at the top of the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email

    Thanks,
    Peter.
