• For a couple weeks now I’ve been getting “500 Internal Server Error” at random times when viewing my blog’s home page. I updated to the latest version of WP (2.1.3) and updated every plugin that had an update, but I still get the same errors. If the page loads fine, I just hit refresh and I’ll get the error. Wait a second and refresh again and the page loads fine again. I checked my server’s error log and it’s blank, even after I refreshed my blog and got the 500 Internal Server Error multiple times. Does anyone have any ideas of how to troubleshoot this?

Anyone at least have an idea of how I can start addressing this issue?

    1) Check with your host?

    2) What plugins are you running? Have you tried disabling them and seeing if the problem persists?

I checked with my host. They said the operating environment is fine and that the problem was with my code, which they obviously couldn’t help with.

These are the plugins I’m running:
    — Adsense-Deluxe
    — Akismet
    — Contact Form ][
    — DupPrevent
    — Executable PHP widget
    — Feedburner Feed Replacement
    — Google Sitemaps
    — IImage Browser
    — KG Archives
    — Kramer
    — No WWW
    — Optimal Title
    — Picasa Web widget
    — runPHP
    — Search Everything
    — Sidebar Widgets
    — SimpleTags
    — SRG Clean Archives
    — Subscribe me
    — Subscribe To Comments
    — Text Link Ads
    — Viper’s Video Quicktags
    — WordPress Database Backup
    — WP-Cron

I’ve disabled some of them and still have the same problem. I’ve been using most of these plugins for a long time now and haven’t had a problem until just a couple weeks ago. I recently added WP-Cache to try to improve the speed of my site, but have it disabled now because of this problem. Unfortunately, the problem persists.

nothing leaps to mind, but make sure you’ve checked for updated/current versions of all those (perhaps especially, the Google Sitemap one).

Yeah, I updated all of them already… This is so frustrating.

I had the exact same problem. I found a thread on some forum that basically said that if any plugins you have are caching your own dynamic php (I was using WP-Cache), then you’ll have this “Internal Server 500” error. I disabled and then deactivated the WP-Cache plugin and it was fixed.

    Hope that helps.
