Random 404 messages

After uploading to the current version of WordPress (3.0.4), I often get the 404 page not found message when publishing or editing a post.

I also get this message consistently when trying to update my style.css stylesheet in the editor, although I can update my custom.css stylesheet and other templates just fine.

Any tips as to how this problem may be resolved?
