• When I added a Skills Group on the database, it appears fine on the Registration Form:
“General Construction* Excellent Good Fair Poor Want to Learn”
Radio buttons are attached to each one of these options, and the scroll across the page from the General Construction question.

One another group “Personal”, I’m asking for shirt sizes. It is set up exactly as the Skills List Group I set up, but the layout on the Registration From comes up like this:
    “T-Shirt size*
    Small
    Medium
    Large
    XLarge
    2XLarge
    3XLarge”
I would like it to be on the same line, like the General Construction question.

Where am I missing this? Thanks in advance for the help.

This is a CSS question, and there’s really no way to answer it specifically without seeing the page in question. I’m guessing the width of the container is different for some reason because the options are set up to break to the next line if the container isn’t wide enough. But there could be other reasons.

The best thing to do is to use your browser developer tools inspector to see what is going on with those elements.

Well, I’m such a rookie on all this stuff and I looked at what you recommended, and knew that I was going to create a much larger headache than I needed. So for the benefit of others, maybe having this same problem, all I did was to go into the Field Group named Personal and deleted the Field Names of those very fields you see above. Then started a new Field Group named Shirt Sizes, and added in each of the fields as listed above, done exactly how I had them entered into the previous personal and general construction groups. It worked and looked just like the result I had on the general construction group. So it looks like there was a problem with coding on the Personal Group which was the same default one in the database when I started.

Thanks for the quick response to my question. Didn’t know that I needed to come back here to look for your reply, as I had checked the box to notify me of follow-up replies via email. Didn’t get any email.

It sure would be nice if when we are setting up fields in a new group, we could simply answer a question about how long the field name response box should be. I will still have to get a headache and reread everything just to make changes to the length.

Your response; “I’m guessing the width of the container is different for some reason because the options are set up to break to the next line if the container isn’t wide enough.” If that were the case, shouldn’t my starting a new group have the same issues when I selected “Radio Buttons” for Form Element?

Thanks. I’m liking the program so far, but I still have a long way to go to get it operational. A big task I’m going to have is to transfer files from another database! This should use up a few aspirin!

Take a look at this article, it may help with the data transfer:

Importing an Existing Database into Participants Database

Thanks Roland. Also thanks for the answers to the other questions.
I did read all the way through the article you mentioned and fully understand what I need to do next.
The one thing I’m wondering is, when I download the csv file from my other database, does Participants Database send each participant downloaded an email with their new private id, or sign in code? As if they were registering on the site as a newbie.

    Thanks again

To do something like this, you’ll need the Email Expansion Kit add-on. The best way to do this is once the records are imported, you can select them in the admin Participant List page and send out the “signup” email. It’s not a good idea to do it automatically on an import (although it is possible) because it can happen by accident, or you just won’t be certain the email went out correctly.

Thanks Roland. I will look at the Email Expansion Kit, when I receive the data from the other database.
Real helpful info and quick reply!
    Thanks, Rocky
