• Recently I noticed a change in Contact Form 7. We have had the radio button coded with a * to make it required for a long time, but recently there was a change that made the option unusable. Now I have to have it without the * or else it displays the code from the plugin.

I did some research and found on your site where it states, “radio represents a group of radio buttons (<input type=”radio”> in HTML). Note that there is no required version of radio (“radio*”). The reason Contact Form 7 doesn’t provide “radio*” is because a radio button is a required field by nature.”

My issue is that now that I have the radio option without the *, Contact Form 7 does not enforce this as required per your description. You can go to our site and submit a request, select nothing on the radio button, and the form is allowed to submit.

Can we get CF7 updated so it is required by default per the information on your site or get the * option re-enabled?

Here is our page so you can see it work… https://www.cohokc.com/contact-us/prayer-request/

I checked your site, it is working normally.

See Checkboxes, Radio Buttons and Menus

For radio tags, specifying pre-checked option with default:(num) option is suggested. Or you can use checkbox* tags with exclusive option like this:

[checkbox* your-fruit exclusive "Apple" "Banana" "Grape"]

So it’s supposed to let someone submit the form without selecting anything since I don’t have the pre-checked option enabled?

But Checkbox and Radio are different things… Tag exclusive don’t resolve the problem with displaying form…

    I also need required radio.

    Thanks for good plugin.
