    Wouter,

    That is indeed odd.

Have you tried clearing the cache?

Is that the only post on which the quotes do not appear?

I would try deleting the post (copy the content first) and re-posting it to see if that helps.

We will get it figured out, let me know if those steps don’t help.

    Hi Ben,

Thanks for your quick response. I think I know what causes the problem.

I have a plugin that automatically creates cross links between blog posts. I have written a blog post about hosting, and all occurrences of the word hosting become links to the blog post about hosting. Also the words hosting in the bctt tweet.

I can reproduce it by adding a link to the bctt text. When I do that, the tweet text disappears.

So it seems the bctt plugin gets confused by these links. Is it possible to ignore/strip these links?

    Thanks!

Ahh. Yes, any time html or php or anything is inserted into the shortcode, it won’t work. That’s a security issue more than anything else.

What plugin is it that is adding the links? perhaps there’s a way for the two to play together nicely.

    Here’s what’s going on:

My plugin is outputting a link by means of a shortcode (with the word “hosting” in the anchor text in this instance).

The other plugin is attempting to add a link within that link to that anchor text keyword.

That creates a sort of double-link, which breaks the link.

I’ve reached out to the other developer to see if they can fix their plugin, because there’s nothing I can do to mine to cause it to play nice with theirs.

The easiest way would be to avoid using your keywords in your bctt shortcodes.

I’ll let you know if I hear back from them.

    Thanks!

    Hi Ben,

Thanks very much for your support!

I replied to your post with another solution. I hope there will be an answer. So far I see a lot of unanswered questions. And the plugin hasn’t been updated for more than a year …
