Quotes inside translated text breaks translation

It looks like it isn’t possible to escape quotes in translated text using this plugin. For instance, if I add the following code to my theme:

<?php pll_e('Please don\'t do this') ?>
<?php pll_e("Please don't do this") ?>

The resulting entry that appears in the “Strings translations” settings page is Please don.

There doesn’t seem to be any way to avoid the entry being cut off.
