    Hi,

I just noticed today my post & page’s description in google is completely different & meaningless, of what I have added using Yoast SEO.

I checked into my source code and found,

the quotation mark missing from the description meta

and google always checks the description of the page or post using the description meta.

But when I deactivated the w3tc plugin, the meta description was back to normal.

Why is this happening, how can I get the quotation mark, even while using w3tc plugin?

Please help me with this issue, I love your plugin’s optimization, but it’s affecting my SEO, too.

    Thank You.

    Hello @qph9697

I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing and I am happy to assist you with this.
Is HTML minify enabled in Performance>Minify? If so can you please disable it, save all settings and purge the cache and see if the issue persists?
    Thank you!

    Yes, the issues go away.

But I don’t get one thing, why do you not include an option to remove “Quotation Mark” in minify HTML section.

It’s almost a year since you have promised to bring it in as an update.

Many users have complained regarding this.

This is only affecting the user experience as many might be turning to some other plugin for to minify HTML.

Please consider this, and hope so in next updates, this might come as a major release.

    Thank You.

    Hello @qph9697

    Thank you for the information.
The HTML is valid and this feature makes page load even smaller, so faster and better for mobile visitors. Not all quotes are removed as HTML requires quotes when there’s a space in the value. But in cases such as yours, it may cause mentioned problem.
I’ve opened a Github issue in our repository on your behalf. The developers will look into this so please make sure to track the progress of the issue regularly.
    Thank you!

    Thank You for this.

I will list down the issues that the minify HTML is causing due to removal of quotes –

    1) The description meta is not working, as the quotes from the description is stripped off, google is taking other lines from our articles as description, and sometimes even the footer’s contents.
    2) It is effecting the preview in our WhatsApp, the image, as the quotes are stripped from the “og:image”.
    3) It affected the AMP pages, I was getting some JSON codes in a preview of the link in WhatsApp.

There may be more, but I have found these 3 issues.

It would really be good if the quotes from the “meta” tags are not removed.
