• Hi,
I noticed that the theme uses angle quotes (? blabla ?) instead of double quote marks (“blabla”) and it seems that the conversion is not working properly everytime. If the text quoted also has special formatting(“< strong >” or “< em >” for example), the closing angle quote will display as the following : ? blabla?
Do you know how I could revert to double quote marks ?
I searched the CSS but it’s not happening there.
    Thanks for your help
    Hubert

Could you please provide a link to a post or page on your site where I can see this problem in action? Thanks.

Have you tried deactivating all your plugins to see if the issue goes away? If it does, reactivate them one at a time to find the culprit.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your answer.
The problem is happening here and there, I’m not sure what causes it.
You can see it at the end of this post : https://playpause.fr/2009/11/03/triste-tropisme/
I’ll try and see if a plugin is linked to it as you suggested.

Thanks for the example. The theme itself doesn’t specify the use of particular quote styles. The use of English-style double quotes ” or French-style guillemets like ? or ? – is usually something controlled by the keyboard layout selection on your computer or mobile device. If you don’t want the guillemets, have you tried setting your keyboard to use an English layout, such as US, UK, or Canadian English?

It’s really strange, maybe coming from some hidden and/or forgotten language setting, as you said. It’s happening quite randomly on other posts. You can see that here too : https://playpause.fr/2009/04/18/je-se-souviens-im-remember/

I’m reviewing each post anyway so I guess I’ll have to edit them one after the other…
    Thanks for your help.

I would definitely check your keyboard layout in your computer or mobile device as I don’t think this is theme-related.

? is a French guillemet but it would generally only appear instead of ” if you have a French keyboard selected in your system preferences.

Funny thing is that the marks display as “” on the editor window, but they display as guillemets on the live site.

Ah, that is weird – you didn’t mention that earlier. ?? Did you try what I suggested earlier? What was the result?
