Quiz cuts out

    Hi there, we have been using LifterLMS on this website for about 2 years without problems, but in the last few weeks have had issues with the quiz cutting out for some (but not all) students. There are 40 quiz questions, the time limit is set to 1 hour and number of attempts is set to 2. Some time during the quiz, the next question just won’t load and the student then can’t complete the quiz. We haven’t seen any error messages but only just turned on full error logging so we may get an error message next time if it happens again. Any ideas on what this could be caused by?

  • Hi @frederikemoodie,

    I’m sorry you’re having this issue!

    Unfortunately, without an error log we can’t be sure.

    Is there a way you are able to recreate the issue, where we can follow the steps to troubleshoot on a test site.

    If there is a specific student that this is happening to consistently, you can have them try to run through the quiz after temporarily disabling the other plugins (aside from LifterLMS) on your site and see if this solves the issue for them. If it does, it means there is some kind of plugin conflict that you can start narrowing down by turning plugins on one by one until the issue reappears.

    For those students who were unable to complete the quiz, you can delete their attempts so they are able to try them again! If you go to LifterLMS->Reporting->Quizzes, select the quiz in question, then the student, and on their attempts page delete the selected attempt.

    Thanks Natalie. It was affecting a few different students and I haven’t been able to reproduce the issue unfortunately. Which clearly makes it very tricky to fix, I realise that! I have turned off all non-essential plugins for now and turned on error logging so that we will hopefully see an error message if it happens again. We have worked out how to delete the quiz attempts, thank you, at least the students can retake the quiz now. I will post here if it happens again and we get an error in the log.
