• I was expecting a lot more considering the feedback and the number of current installs. The plugin was easy to install but like most WP plugins the user is left to figure out how to work it. After an hour of failing to get the CSV to import all the information consistently I posted a question on the forum I got a prompt “READ THE DOCUMENTATION”. I know how annoying an “It’s broke, fix my problem” support request is which is why I spent the time creating screenshots and attempting to articulate my problem. Maybe the solution in blaring in the documentation but I clearly didn’t see it and pointing out the error in my provided screenshots or the documentation could have been beneficial to me and others who have a similar problem and to be honest “READ THE DOCUMENTATION” doesn’t help anyone. Javier, I’m sure you are just tired of people asking the same dumb question but after a while you have to consider that maybe these questions are symptoms of a larger problem. Anyway I deleted this plugin and installed WP Ultimate CSV Importer which is a much better plugin all the way around.

    Good morning @neelix,

Firstly I have to say sorry. I was stressed finishing another project and when I read your question I answered really bad. Maybe I could have waited and then answer, I like to answer fast and yes, maybe it is better answer later but better.

Secondly not only in documentation, in the example CSV, in the same page of import, the plugin says in a message:

File must contain at least 2 columns: username and email. These should be the first two columns and it should be placed in this order: username and email. If there are more columns, this plugin will manage it automatically.

Yes, this is not enough but I have to improve it: the explanation and the way of work.

And finally after all this I have to tell you that I have used dozens of my hours doing this project. I did it for free. I only want to have good reviews (as you can see in the other reviews) and things like this are really sad for me. I use my time and my enthusiasm in making bit a bit a very good project for everyone.

Tell me what I have to do to make your review turn from 1 star to something more.

I apologize for all this, when I have problems with another projects I cannot give unhelpful support in this one, maybe the person who ask can wait and everyone will win later.

    Thanks for reading me.

    Thanks Javier,
I’ve read more of your support responses and it’s clear you care about this plugin. This is a FREE plugin but time and frustration are valuable too and spending an hour trying to get something to work is not really free in the end. The point of the review is to help others find the best plugins and to hopefully avoid the hassle you endured regardless if money changed hands. I still think a lower review is warranted but I did change it to a 3 star which I believe is generous. In comparison to similar FREE plugins that do this one is feature poor and quirky. For example in WP Ultimate CSV Importer the header names and order don’t matter and you get to preview the import before committing to it. You get to select what information you want to be assigned to the standard WP data and create and modify your own custom headers.

I would suggest removing the need for the username and email to be in the first two columns. Most people have an existing dataset which would have to be converted and rearranged every time you want to upload it. You could just complete the list of WP default names with wp_user and wp_pass and let the user decide what order they go in. If this is difficult make the user document more clear. It’s confusing having 2 headers structured at the top and the rest pull from the standard WP default names. Also your example CSV doesn’t have all the standard WP data such as username, First Name and Last Name but has non standard WP fields like Address and Country. If having a physical address column wasn’t odd enough you don’t offer a First/Last name field. How are you going to ship something to an address without a name? Also the username isn’t typically the persons first name it’s something unique for obvious reasons. Also consider a troubleshooting table with the most common problems and the solution. It’s hard to see the forest from the trees and I hope you find this helpful and please don’t be discouraged. From your response it’s clear you are one of the good guys and I wish you the best.

Please do not forget this plugin and see how it is being improved, little by little.
