    Hello,

When I first built my WooCommerce stor, I connected it to Maxmind to get the geolocation.

But now I have also connected the site to Quic Cloud CDN, and I am wondering if it is possible/advisable to use the Quic Cloud geolocation rather than Maxmind?

I am asking because I was told that if I had been using Cloudflare instead of Quic Cloud, then it would have been better to use Cloudflare (faster and more accurate).

If it is possible and advisable to use Quic Cloud geolocation, how would I do this, making my WooCommerce store use Quic Cloud and not Maxmind?

    Thanks!

  • Do you offer different content based on location of the user?

Yes, I have a tax plugin which shows different VAT for visitors from different countries. I also have a currency converter, which shows different currencies depending on which country the visitor is from.

Does this tax plugin set any cookie depending on location?

I don′t think so. I can′t see any cookie related to that plugin when using the inspect tool in my broser.

The multi-currency plugin does set cookies.

These are very bad conditions if the tax plugin does not set a cookie. Are the tax and currency set automatically depending on the location?

    Yes they are.

    You chose the worst case!!

In this case, the MaxMind database will not help you at all. What you need is the LiteSpeed GeoIP database in order to set appropriate Cache Varies depending on the LOCation. LiteSpeed LScache (not the cache plugin) supports this, but the plugin doesn’t. In addition, and if you are not running a dedicated server or VPS, then the LiteSpeed GeoIP database is not available to you. Quic.cloud doesn’t help there either.
The problem with the currency could still be easily solved, but not if the currency is automatically set depending on the LOCation. There is no solution for the tax if this plugin does not set a cookie.

OK, thanks a lot for your help!

    Are you on Shared Hosting?

Yes, I have a WordPress hosting account on Hostinger.

woooooorst case! You need at least a VPS if there is LiteSpeed GeoIP DB available. Without it there is no way.

If you could do without the automatic selection, there would still be limited hope.

Ok, thanks, I will contact the plugin developer and check. Maybe it does set a cookie and I am just not finding it ??
