I want to upgrade to the most current version. I read the backup instructions and followed them, but wondered-is it a good idea to turn off the plugins first?
Also, the long instructions for upgrade suggested that I then check the backup before proceeding, which I tried with sqleditor; I only saw 4 and then 5 of the 10 tables –and not that all important posts table.
I’ve backed up a corrupt database on another site without checking and had no problem, but last year, the current blog got all crosswise and broken when I attempted an update, so I’m feeling extra anxious.

Should I be able to see all ten tables in the sqleditor view, or should I just assume that the backup with phpmyAdmin went okay?

    Thanks.

I meant to say “turn off plugins before exporting db.”

I’m still not sure why I couldn’t see more tables in sqledit, but I’m pretty sure I’ve successfully exported and saved the database using phpMyAdmin, after watching a few videos at: https://educhalk.org/blog/?p=143
