I am running a custom theme EDUMA (see here) and I wish I could use the same styling with MMM (fonts, colors and transparencies: you will notices that the menu has a fade-in fad-out effect on hover and on scroll down, until it disappears. Once back on top of page, gets transparent again). Can I achieve this with MMM?

    – Are colors and fonts and background color customizable on mobile version?

    – I have two menus in the head of the site. The secondary menu has no submenus, but must appear in the mobile menu. Obviously the mobile menu must have only one menu icon for both the menus, primary and secondary. Can I achieve this with MMM?

    Hi Blutarsky,

    1. MMM will completely replace your theme menu, including the styling. That’s because MMM has functions that your theme menu CSS won’t support (e.g. mega menus). The menu HTML and the CSS work in harmony, so you can’t take the theme menu CSS and apply it to the mega menu HTML.

The hover effect looks like it’s part of the header, not the menu, so you should be able to retain that effect if you set the menu background to transparent.

    2. There’s a special section in the theme editor for styling the mobile menu. Extra CSS would need to be added into the Custom Styling area

    3. You could completely hide the top menu on mobiles, then add links to the main menu that are only displayed on mobiles.

Overall, I’d say MMM doesn’t look like a good fit for that theme – the menus they’ve included are tightly integrated so it wouldn’t be easy to swap them out for something else.

Basically I should tweak CSS so the MMM has no borders, is transparent, and uses the same fonts as my menu. Too complex?

How about MMM using two menus in mobile version? (primary and secondary menu)

“Basically I should tweak CSS so the MMM has no borders, is transparent, and uses the same fonts as my menu. ” – that’s correct. Just bear in mind MMM is a completely different menu system to your theme menu so expect there to be some minor differences.

“How about MMM using two menus in mobile version?” your theme currently displays a slide out side menu, if that is completely separate from the desktop menu (using a different menu location) then you can just leave it as it is. I.e. enable MMM for the primary menu but not the mobile menu location.

I suggest installing the plugin (free version) to see how you get on. There’s no need for Pro for anything you’ve mentioned ??

For example what differences should I expect?
    Thanks very much for helping!

For example the green underline that slides underneath each menu item when you hover over it. MMM does not support that (just a simple on/off underline).

That wouldn’t be a major problem….. I will play a bit and see how it goes.

    Thanks!
