Questions about features

  • I am looking for a suitable map plugin and very much like this one because:
    1. Responsive.
    2. Nice interface with plenty of interactions and view options for viewers as well as authors.
    3. Ability to pop up content from markers.

    I am held up by few issues, perhaps not the intended use of this plugin:
    4. Generate/display a map of the images (geotagged) in the post
    5. Display a map of current posts/pages (geotagged), or more posts/pages
    6. Allow geotagging of posts/pages (currently it can be done on mobile app but not on desktop)
    7. I note generating route map from files (e.g. gpx) will be available in Pro version; will watch out for this

    Can I confirm that 4,5,6 are not available features of this plugin? I have only came across an old plugin that does (4) and only (4). I have seen a few that do (5) and (6), and only (5) and (6). So, to satisfy my map needs I require at least three plugins.

    thanks for your interest in my plugin!

    ad feature 4-6: for probably pro version 1.3 or 1.4 I also plan integration into post/pages workflow – just havent found the best way to do so – but this is definitely on the roadmap.

    ad gpx/routes: will be available earlier (1.2 or 1.3) as this feature is already specified.

    Thanks for getting back. I will post my review when I have used the plugin enough; I am yet to decide which to go.

    Your plugin has great potential, given the amount of thoughts given and works done. I hope it will take care of the basic needs and non-technical users too. It will be great if it can achieve 4-7 through, for example:

    4. simple shortcode [mapsmaker images=’specify if not to show all’] or with a single button on TinyMCE and selecting the available option.
    5. simple shortcode [mapsmaker posts=’specify if not current post’] or with a single button on TinyMCE and selecting the available option.
    6. have the fields in post editor and with a single button on TinyMCE to select the location (or change the auto detected) on map
    7. simple shortcode [mapsmaker gpx=’fullpath/filename.gpx’] or with a single button on TinyMCE and selecting to upload the gpx file or specify a url (to be able to generate map from kml will be important too)
