I really like the plugin. I just installed it and it looks like what we need but I cannot find how to add an event and the sidebar is not showing up. I’m not sure what to do first. I could add categories and adjust settings but saw nothing about adding an event. thanks.

@jewlzmcq… I’m glad you found what you’re looking for, too. I’m not so fortunate finding where you add events, import/link Google calendars, shortcodes that can be used, etc. Typically I’m quite savvy and can figure these things out, but I humbly admit I feel a bit in the dark here.

Eran… is there a user guide?

    Thanks. ??

    Pepperfly,

There is no user guide per se, however, you can find all you need to know about installing the plugin here.

As for the rest of your questions:
    1. You add events by clicking on a day in the admin calendar.
    2. The only shortcode needed is [calendar] – as described in the installation instructions.
    3. You cannot link Google calendars to this calendar, this is not the purpose of this plugin. This calendar emulates the look and feel of Google Calendar, it does not link to it. If there is your need, I have seen several plugins in the WordPress repository that address such needs.

    Hope this helps.

Eran… thanks for the quick reply.

I followed steps one and two. You can see my calendar at https://www.segoprairie.org/calendar-of-events/.

I can see the admin calendar (WordPress back-end), but when I click on a date, a Growl messages says “Whooops! You cannot create events in the post.”

Besides not being able to add events still, even if I could I kinda do have a need to link Google calendars, mostly so that updates from my Google calendar appear in the Ajax calendar on the web and I wouldn’t have to separately manage events in both places. I hoped this plugin filled that need, as well as the need to allow the public to add their own events. Sounds like a feature request to me. ?? In the meantime, looks like I’m outta luck.

Thanks, though. I’ll vote “works” if I could add events, at least.

    Hey Jeff,

Check the calendar options (in the admin settings section), you can toggle the option which disallows event creation in the past.

I created this plugin, so that people who subscribe to a blog could edit a common calendar, with specific fields. Google Calendar does not possess these additional fields. Therefore, were I to add such a feature external content from Google Calendar would be inconsistent with the native events.

    Thanks
    Eran

Yep, that worked. I’ll rate your plugin. Thanks, and sorry for hi-jacking this thread! ??
