Question re redirection of home page

I am using the Redirection plugin to redirect all the pages of my website vocationvillage.com to a new website with a different domain. I’m updating the content and many of the URLs are changing, so that’s why I am not doing some sort of global redirect.

The only page I am confused about is my home page. If I make a redirection of the home page using just a slash, like this: / … to redirect the home page of vocationvillage.com to the home page of the new site, will I still be able to use URL https://www.vocationvillage.com/wp-admin/ to log into the old site? Or will this redirect cause problems and I should do this in a different way? Thank you.
