    Hello

I find that since I created a sitemap file for a website of mine and I type into Google “Firstname Secondname it now appears but at the moment is around 9th in the list.

I am confused by this – if I type into Google “Home Firstname Secondname” then it appears much higher up.

I can see “Home Firstname Secondname” in the <title> </title> of the html code.

I have another similar site where the word Home does not appear in the <title> </title>.

I am curious to know why this happens with one and not the other? and why I get a higher result when using the name of the wordpress page?

Can your SEO plugin help re this?

    Cheers

    Geoff

A: What title did you enter for the page?
B: What title is output in the source code of your site?
C: What title does Google show?

Do A and B titles match? If not, please try the suggestions in this article: The SEO title output for the plugin doesn’t work as expected

Do A/B and C titles match? If not, please try the suggestions in this article: Google shows different titles for my site

If the problem remains, please provide your website URL for further investigation.

Thanks for your reply. The values are as follows:

    A Ana Gogava – pianist
    B <title>Home – Ana Gogava – pianist</title>
    C Home – Ana Gogava – pianist

    ?!

This typically means your theme or another plugin is adding information to the title tag.

You can set the homepage SEO title and description in the settings under

    Admin > SEO > Titles & Metas* > Homepage

    * If you do not see Titles & Metas, the advanced settings can be enabled by following the steps here.

Not sure what to do when I select the Homepage?

How do I change the content between <title> and </title> in the html source code?

    Plus add meta words?

    Cheers

If your homepage displays your latest posts, you will see two boxes: one for the title and one for the description. Clicking on the Help Center will display a tutorial video explaining the process.

If your homepage is a static page, you will see a link that will takes you to the edit page screen for the homepage. You will enter the title and description in the snippet preview just like you do for other posts and pages. Clicking on the Help Center will display a tutorial video explaining the process.

just that when I created the static front page I gave it the name “Home” and that is one of the words which appear in the <title>Home – Ana Gogoava – pianist</title>.

is it OK to change the name I gave to this page?
