Question on Pinging to Update Services URIs

    Hi,

    Does unchecking the following boxes in ‘Options’ => ‘Discussion’ prevent my new blog posts from being pinged to the Update Services URIs to inform them of my new posts?

    1) Attempt to notify any Weblogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.)
    2) Allow link notifications from other Weblogs (pingbacks and trackbacks.)

    Or are those functions totally different and unrelated? I just want to confirm that the indexes are notified when I post something out.

    Different, but somewhat related.

    Where you want to look is at Options -> Writing. Towards the bottom of the page, “Update Services”. Those are what are notified when you make a new post.
