Question on copying image URLs
-
Hey there! In my old wordpress.com blog, I could just copy/paste an image URL and got something like this: https://chrisontour84.files.wordpress.com/2015/12/dsc00991.jpg?w=1000&h=&crop=1
Now in my new blog, the resizing parameters are gone. I would need them though and am using JetPacks Gallery function. Do you know of a way to get them back whenever I rightclick-copy image URL?
Thanks!

To enable similar functionality, switch on Jetpack’s Photon module at Jetpack -> Settings in your blog’s Dashboard.
Thx! It works on my standard pictures, but not on the panoramos somehow.
Do you mean the image at the top of the post?
It seems to be running through Photon for me. Have you tried clearing your browser’s cache?
No, please see this link for an example picture from the gallery link above:
https://www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/dsc00996.jpg
Ok, if I right-click the image in the gallery and choose Copy Image Address, I get: https://i2.wp.com/www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/dsc00996.jpg?zoom=2&resize=641%2C147
Is that what you’re looking for?
This works fine for me in Chrome 48.0.2564.82 and Firefox 43.0.4 (where it’s called Copy Image Location).
That only works before I click on the picture. However, the scaled version is too small. If you first left click on any panorama in the gallery and then right-click and copy image adress, it will not have the resizing information in the URL anymore
As the images are running through Photon, you can just copy the URL from the gallery and adjust as desired:
https://i2.wp.com/www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/dsc00996.jpg?zoom=2&resize=641%2C147 is the image from the gallery now.
https://i2.wp.com/www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/dsc00996.jpg is the original.
So, you can use:
https://i2.wp.com/www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/dsc00996.jpg?zoom=2&resize=[width]%2C[height]
However you want to:
Hm, now Photon does not seem to work at all anymore in my new post: https://www.chrisontour84.de/2016/01/29/live-83-torres-del-paine-patagonia-chile-day-2/
It is a lot of work to manually adjust all those parameters ??
Any idea? Maybe there are better working alternatives?
Those images are still running through Photon for me.
Do you mean you still get the resizing info in the URL? Cause i dont, using Chrome Version 48.0.2564.97 ??
At https://www.chrisontour84.de/2016/01/13/live-82-torres-del-paine-patagonia-chile-day-1/ this is what I see when I inspect one of the images in Chrome 48.0.2564.97’s developer tools:
<img data-attachment-id="7242" data-orig-file="https://www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/dsc00991.jpg" data-orig-size="5456,3064" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"9","credit":"","camera":"ILCE-3000","caption":"","created_timestamp":"1428832403","copyright":"","focal_length":"83","iso":"100","shutter_speed":"0.0025","title":"","orientation":"0"}" data-image-title="DSC00991" data-image-description="" data-medium-file="https://i2.wp.com/www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/dsc00991.jpg?fit=300%2C168" data-large-file="https://i2.wp.com/www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/dsc00991.jpg?fit=645%2C362" src="https://i2.wp.com/www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/dsc00991.jpg?zoom=2&resize=319%2C179" data-original-width="319" data-original-height="179" title="DSC00991" alt="DSC00991" style="width: 319px; height: 179px;" width="319" height="179" srcset="https://i2.wp.com/www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/dsc00991.jpg?zoom=2&resize=319%2C179" src-orig="https://i2.wp.com/www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/dsc00991.jpg?resize=319%2C179" scale="2">
There’s a lot of various bits in there, but the key part is https://i2.wp.com/www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/dsc00991.jpg?resize=319%2C179
I totally agree on that and have the same for this post. However, for my new post it is not the case anymore and I wonder why, since I have not done anything different. Even tried to turn off and on Photon again without any luck.
This is the post Im talking about: https://www.chrisontour84.de/2016/01/29/live-83-torres-del-paine-patagonia-chile-day-2/
Thanks so much ??
Here’s from the second image in that gallery:
<img data-attachment-id="7678" data-orig-file="https://www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC01222.jpg" data-orig-size="5455,2090" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"9","credit":"","camera":"ILCE-3000","caption":"","created_timestamp":"1428918591","copyright":"","focal_length":"18","iso":"100","shutter_speed":"0.004","title":"","orientation":"0"}" data-image-title="DSC01222" data-image-description="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC01222.jpg?fit=300%2C115" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC01222.jpg?fit=645%2C247" src="https://i0.wp.com/www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC01222.jpg?zoom=2&resize=379%2C145" data-original-width="379" data-original-height="145" title="DSC01222" alt="DSC01222" style="width: 379px; height: 145px;" width="379" height="145" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC01222.jpg?zoom=2&resize=379%2C145" src-orig="https://i0.wp.com/www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC01222.jpg?resize=379%2C145" scale="2">
Like above, the key part is https://i0.wp.com/www.chrisontour84.de/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC01222.jpg?resize=379%2C145
The thing is, I am looking for a super fast way to get the URLs including the resizing information so I can copy/Paste them into a forum where I keep posting updates about my blog updates. It will take too much time to always inspect elements and find the correct URL.
In my old WordPress.com Blog, I could just open the picture from the gallery, right click and copy the image URL and it was done. THis also worked with Photon from the first update (https://www.chrisontour84.de/2016/01/13/live-82-torres-del-paine-patagonia-chile-day-1/), so Im trying to understand why it is not working for the second one… (https://www.chrisontour84.de/2016/01/29/live-83-torres-del-paine-patagonia-chile-day-2/)
UPDATE: Now it is not even working for the first update anymore, so this is really strange and it would be nice to have a better solution for my problem other than Photon maybe.
THanks!
I wish I had a good answer for you, but what you’re describing works perfectly for me in Chrome 48.0.2564.97.
Here’s a recording of what I’m doing: https://d.pr/i/15BEI/mGwpVOBU
