Hi!

I’m really tempted to give this plugin a try, as i love the idea of the local GA-script. But ??

I’m using Monster Insights (MI) now. The only function, that i really need and can’t find here in CAOS is the Affiliate-Link-function. That gives me the opportunity to track my cloacked affilite-links properly. E.G. every link with “/ext/” in URL will be tracked as an external Link. That will track an event in GA and let me set event-based goals.

Any chance to get this added here or does anybody know, how i can substitue this function?

Thanks and best regards!
Achim

Could you provide me with a link from Google’s documentation about this function? I could have a look to see how to implement this.

Hi Dan0sz and thanks for your fast answer!

To be honest, i think it’s not exclusively a GA-function. For me it seems to be something the plugin does and then sends an event to GA (sorry for being unclear, but i don’t really know more).

The function in MI is described here:
https://www.monsterinsights.com/how-to-set-up-affiliate-link-tracking-in-wordpress/

Basically, when recognizing a defined part of an URL (e.g. /out/) inside an internal Link, when somebody clicks on that link it sends an external Link-Click-Event to GA. Based on this event it’s possible to set goals. I guess this event-function is used, but i’m not sure about that:

If i’m not clear enough, please ask again.

Thank you very much for Support and best regards!

Diggin deeper i found this script in the sourcecode of my website (https://www.top-wp-hosting.de). I guess that’s responsible for the event:

@kirchmeier,

Just to let you know, in recent updates CAOS is now fully compatible with Monster Insights. So you can keep that plugin, but host it locally by running CAOS in compatibility mode!
