Question – Can I assign a canonical tag and have SEs index an uploaded PDF text?

A few quick questions here. I haven’t found the answer online so hopefully someone can comment.

– Can the text in a PDF file uploaded to the Download Manager file library be indexed by search engines?
– If the answer is yes, can I set a canonical tag for that PDF document to the page where the file is presented to be downloaded?
– If the answer to both prior questions is no, is there any workaround for this? I imagine the easy way is simply creating a page (incl. a canonical tag) with the content verbatim linking to the page where the PDF can be downloaded. Perhaps there are better solutions.

I’d be inclined to believe that the answer to both questions is no, but I thought it might be worth asking anyway. I still haven’t used the plugin too much (or WP in general, for that matter), so there may very well be aspects I’m not considering. Anyway, I’d appreciate any input.
