• Try re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download

I’ve seen this posted a couple or or more times and it always works.

My question is this: What affect will this have on my live site?

I will thank you in advance.

  • All this does is updates your wp-admin and wp-includes folders to the most recent WordPress version.

This is perfectly fine and acceptable.

However, what you do NOT want to mess with is your wp-content folder. This is where theme and plugin files are stored; as well as user uploads.

It’s always a good idea to backup your site before changing files.

However, if you are experiencing your editor toolbar not working; then the issue is most likely a plugin or theme conflict.

Have you tried disabling all of your plugins.. then checking to see if it loads properly? Be sure to manually empty your browser cache after deactivating all plugins. Then go to a post/page and see if the editor loads properly.

I forgot to add the fact that I had just moved from a directory on my main site to its own domain. Any different cause due to this?
