Question about styling the list in comments.php

Hi,

In the comments.php section:

I have post_meta_data author and date template tags styled with one color background above the comment_text tag. I have comment_text tag styled with a different color. I have both wrapped in their own divs. I have a gap between the div .post_meta_data and the .comment_text. I have tried removing all padding and margins on everything. The divs, the ol the li. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas how to join the two divs together? One on top the other?
