Question about refund process

Hi,
I am trying to understand the support resources for this plugin before going live.
I found this issue in Github, asked a question, although haven’t received a reply:
Manual refund is created when changing the order status to “Refunded” #2814
https://github.com/Automattic/woocommerce-payments/issues/2814Can you please let me know the significance of this bug? Is the work-around to this issue to first process the refund via WooCommerce Payments and then change the order status to refunded?
If possible, I wish to avoid problems by knowing the work-arounds before starting to use this plugin live.
