Question about Recent Posts from a certain category

  • I was wondering if there was a way to exclude a certain category from showing up in my recent posts section. Example I have 3 categories.

    News
    Politics
    Movies

    I want to exclude the politics category posts from showing up in my recent posts section of my blog. Readers will have access to those posts via clicking on the category.

    Also if it was possible only to showcase a few of them in that section when I choose to.

    This will be for the main blog section and not the sidebar.
