Question about Pro Version

Thanks for your enquiry regarding NextGEN Gallery Optimizer Pro.

That’s an impressive difference in page load speed with NextGEN Gallery deactivated (~1.5 seconds), and yes, you should see that ~3.5 second page load time when using the NextGEN Gallery Deactivator feature in Optimizer Pro.

I’ve tested NextGEN Gallery Deactivator across a number of different server setups, and typically get at least a 1 second boost in page load speed when running a clean-install of NextGEN 2.0.xx (even more when using NextGEN Plus or Pro alongside it, as it deactivates them as well).

This performance increase can be higher still (as you’ve experienced) as it depends on a number of factors (including how powerful your server is), which is why I say the best way to test Deactivator’s effectiveness on your own setup, is simply to manually deactivate NextGEN on your Plugins page, and browse a few non-gallery pages on your site.

Doesn’t NGG Optimizer already stop all the php on the index page? Because I’m still getting some speed discrepancy with it turned on than with turning NGG completely off.

My index page is my main priority in terms of speed.

I tested it out and it seems like some component of NGG is still active on the index page.

If NGG Opti pro remove these things then I will definitely be purchasing it.

Optimizer Basic improves your site’s page load speed by preventing NextGEN’s unnecessary scripts & stylesheets (.css and .js files) from loading on pages without galleries.

Optimizer Pro takes this optimization to a whole new level with its NextGEN Gallery Deactivator feature, which specifically stops all of NextGEN’s PHP files from being executed or evaluated on the front-end of your site (except on gallery pages you specify). It’s the equivalent of manually deactivating NextGEN on the Plugins page in your WordPress admin, but your gallery pages will continue to function.

The component of NGG still active on your index page is in fact the entire, epic NextGEN codebase being executed and evaluated on every page load (even when not used). Deactivator stops this.

So, in a nutshell, Optimizer Basic removes NextGENs scripts and styles, Optimizer Pro additionally removes NextGEN’s PHP files. Sounds like just the thing you’re after ??
