If I have a self-hosted blog that I connected through Jetpack to a wordpress.com account/blog that I do not use at all, is it necessary to pay to change the primary domain of my wordpress.com blog over to my self-hosted domain name? I don’t want anyone going to my wordpress.com URL because there’s nothing there.

I was having the issue that when I followed other wordpress blogs, some people would follow me back but they would only end up following my wordpress.com blog (which I do not use). I have since gone to my account settings and made my self-hosted domain the primary website, so I hope that fixes the problem.

So basically, if I DON’T plan to migrate my blog over to wordpress.com, do I simply connect through Jetpack and be done?

I hope that wasn’t too confusing.

Not really, no. The only advantage of that at this point is to provide a clean redirect from example.wordpress.com to example.com

To fix that, make the WordPress.com blog private via Settings -> Reading in its Dashboard.

Yes, that will fix the problem you described.

    Yes, correct. ??
