Question about positioning and floats

I’ve set up Photospace for horizontal thumbnails, but Im having trouble clearing the floats in order to create space below the gallery. I’ve tried to clear the floats for .gal_content, but nothing changes.

How can I reset the floats below .gal_content so that the gallery doesn’t superimpose itself over my footer?
