Question about developing a new WP site in a subdirectory

  • I’m gearing up to create a new wordpress site for my domain while the old site is live. I’ve been reading various ways for doing this and like the approach of creating this in a subdirectory and then making that the live site when ready. My question is about links in the new site.

    The production site will read the links to images and such as https://www.mysite.com/production/wp-conent/uploads/img.jpg

    When the new site in the subdomain becomes the live site, won’t all of links be incorrect? I’m a little baffled about how this works.
