• Okay, I’ll preface by saying that step 6 never happened, so I dont know if that was a problem or what.

As for my immediate question- step 7…….the install script never sent me to the login page-I don’t think. The wordpad file called “wp-login” opened up, but I have no idea how/where to login, as stated in step 7 (below)

    (step 7)
“The install script should then send you to the login page. Sign in with the username admin and the password generated during the installation. You can then click on ‘Profile’ to change the password.”

I will conclude by stating I am not experienced in this level of “work”. Also, I’m downloading to my desktop, so I don’t know if that has anything to do with it. Hell- I’d pay someone to set my blog up if needed!

    Thx,

    Zeb

  • Are you just putting the install files on your desktop and “running” them?

    Hi Zeb,
Just a question: where is your install.php?
It should be on the server, like:
    https://example.com/wp-admin/install.php
After you modified the wp-config.php and uploaded (ftp) into your directory on your server, you have to write the link (above) into the browser’s address line. And that’s it.
If you did what I wrote here then maybe I misunderstood your problem. Please, write it more precisely and we can step further. ??

It is immediately apparent to me that I probably shouldn’t try to learn this stuff. I had a friend who was supposed to set this up for me, but bailed out! So, I thought I’d do it! I’m not so sure I should even attempt to build my blog. My specialty is internet business, strategy, etc.

If anyone knows anyone who would be interested in building my blog- I know EXACTLY what I want!

Sorry if I wasted anyone’s time. Didn’t realize it was so over my head.

    Thanks All,

    Zeb

Why not contact your host and ask them if they’ll do it for you? That’s why you pay them.

Most hosts have an autoinstaller as well. You may want to look around your host’s backend for it.

Hey- now we’re talkin! You may have just saved me quite a large sum of money with that suggestion. If you’re ever in Louisiana, give me shout and we’ll grab a steak!!!

Thanks again- I really appreciate it!
