Query Monitor causes Chrome to crash out of memory
-
Hi, I have several WordPress powered sites and I tend to use Google Chrome as my browser of choice. Recently, one of them has been crashing BUT ONLY IN GOOGLE CHROME. If you view the generated site, everything behaves perfectly well, but if you visit the admin site then (using Windows Task Manager) you see the Chrome app increasing in Memory usage and eventually you get a page not responsive error and then almost immediately afterward an Aw Snap error! All other sites are fine. I then tried the same in Firefox and it all worked well. For the avoidance of doubt – there was NO MEMORY issue with Firefox.
So, I used the Health Check and Troubleshoot plugin to go into Troubleshoot mode and I disabled all plugins. I then re-enabled them one by one and it was Query Monitor being enabled that caused Chrome to crash. I have now remove Query Monitor and the site works as expected.
I have no idea what it was doing or what was causing the issue but report it for users to be aware and for the developers to review.
If anyone has any tips and tricks though, then please let me know.
Many thanks
