Queries and Server Response Time

    I have been trying to optimise my WordPress installation for a good while now, and although it all looks good technically, I experience a really slow server response time. Using Firebug I can see the ‘Timings’ and it is always the ‘Waiting’ part that is quite long. Average around 600ms for a normal blog page.

    I can see that my queries on a normal blog page take between .500 and .600 seconds to load. Is this a direct correlation to the server response time?

    I’m trying to identify where it is that the server response time is being accumulated.
