• We’ve been using Betterdocs for more than a year now. In general works OK, but it seems they are releasing their software completely untested.

    We have mentioned several bugs that usually occurred after an update like broken layout, changing search mask, changes in order of articles etc. After many emails they finally fixed the issues, which is great.

    The really bad news: it seems there is no regression test taking place. The bugs come back sooner or later and we are back in the time consuming email bug report loop.

    Today we really regret to have chosen Betterdocs. We’ve spend sooo much time with these repeating bugs, our users are confused and we are about to give up the plugin.

    This plugin is a quality nightmare and should only be used by the very brave – or if you have no responsibility to your users.

    We are extremely sorry to hear about the poor experience that you had to go through recently with BetterDocs. I can totally understand your frustration.

    The thing is, we had to make major changes in the plugin recently which may have caused those bugs that you have faced. However, we are taking serious actions to improve our testing department and we will make sure that this sort of bugs don’t go undetected from the future.

    We have always been really passionate in terms of fulfilling customer satisfaction through our products & supports. So, we would like to apologize again for the inconvenience caused.

    That being said, I would really appreciate it if you refer me the Ticket ID of yours so that we can take care all of your reported issues and make sure that it doesn’t happen again in the future.

    Since, you are one of our long term users, it’s really sad that things have come to this. But, if we are given another chance, we will surely make this right, we promise.

    So, it would be great if you co-operate with us one more time so that we can make things better for everyone.

    Most of the time (as of this morning) we’ve replied to an older support email – as the issue is the same. Nevertheless, here you go: #95236, #81115 – in total 37 emails we’ve sent…!!

    Honestly, we really appreciate your are “really passionate in terms of fulfilling customer satisfaction”. Unfortunately this passion is not reflecting reality at all.

    @abidhasan112 Thanks. Order is working correctly again.

    Unfortunately now with 2.12 (since 2.11) loading speed of all docs is at >2s. Before it was fast and responsive <1s.
    Server has plenty of performance and not changed.

    Thanks for fixing the newly introduced speed issues in 2.0.13. Sad, that we received no info from your support team – even being premium clients.

    Our conversation here shows the betterdocs quality issues vividly. Clients are guinea pigs for completely untested code releases. It‘s just good luck if the plugin still works after an update.

    Sorry, but your attitude towards quality assurance is not sufficient for even a semi-professional website.

    NO RECOMMENDATION for this plugin and your development team!

    Actually, we’ve rolled out a new update yesterday and we were observing the stability of the production version. Sorry for the delay to inform you.

    We always maintain our code quality, testing, and optimization of our plugin and we’re very serious from now to release the stable version of BetterDocs. Hopefully, it won’t happen in the future.

    Again, really sorry for the experience that you’ve faced with our plugin. All of your mentioned issues have been fixed and sorted now. Hope you will happily use the BetterDocs from now.

    Not quiet:

    • Access rights to edit betterdocs can not be set to be different to editing posts. This results that anyone with betterdocs editing rights can also edit blog posts – a no go for a professional access right setting.
      About a year ago we suggested to add support for the Members plugin to set fine grained access rights. Still unsolved.
    • Docs can be rated by the user, which is great. Unfortunately there is no possibility to find out which document were rated bad – and need improvement therefore. So this rating feature is absolutely useless/nonsense. We suggested to display the rating in the documents list view about a year ago. Still unsolved.

    BTW: It’s great we see some movement on your side since we took your quality nightmare public. Sad you don’t move at all if it stays a private support conversation.

    We’ve checked by using the Contributor role and it seems fine and expected behavior actually. We’ve checked with all WordPress default roles and seems fine.

    Regarding the integration with Members plugin – We still have this on our pending list. We need to make sure that everything is working as expected when we integrate BetterDocs with other membership plugins since we have our own Restricted control aswell. If we are able to do this perfectly, we will surely let you know don’t worry.
