QNAP NAS & WordPress: Unable to connect to web to get themes etc…
-
I have a QNAP NAS 439 Pro II I recently installed WordPress QPKG on. Install went fine. The minute I tried to add a new theme and visit the WP repository I got an error. …see fix at bottom.
I figured it might be a problem with not having installed my API key. When I attempted that I got the following:
The key you entered could not be verified because a connection to akismet.com could not be established. Please check your server configuration.
I zeroed in on the word server and figured I had a problem with the QNAP NAS. Turns out I never defined the DNS servers for my ISP.
FIX:
Login to the admin section of you QNAP NAS
Click on network and add the Primary and secondary DNS servers from you ISP. Click Save and you are all set.
If you do not know where to get that information. Login to your router and click the status button. They all have one. The primary and secondary will be listed.
Hope this helps someone, so they don’t have to fiddle with it like I did.
