• Part of my “standard” install process is to install this plugin, and enable it Everywhere. Until recently, this has worked quite well.

Lately, though, I’ve noticed that this plugin doesn’t stop linkback spam. The spam comments aren’t visible to end-users, of course, but the emails are annoying.

I know that WordPress has a built-in option to disable this, but I never see it, because when I enable this plugin, the screen with that setting is hidden. So now, I have to remember to turn off linkbacks within WordPress before enabling this plugin.

Is it possible for this plugin to duplicate WordPress’ built-in checkbox for this, so that all “I don’t want spam on my site” options are in one place? It’s probably not necessary to add much functionality to the plugin beyond simply mirroring the checkbox, and WordPress’ setting for it. (Heck, maybe some users want linkbacks on their site, I dunno.)

    Hi David,

The plugin disables pingbacks/trackbacks whenever comments are disabled (hence the build-in WordPress option is redundant). I have just tested on the latest version of WordPress and it is working correctly.

I’d suggest that you check whether any plugins you have installed are causing a conflict…

    Thanks for responding so quickly!

I’ve checked with the developer that reported this issue to me — apparently, the plugin does correctly disable everything-back for pages and posts, but not for some other post_types (in particular, attachment). I’m not sure whether that’s something in the purview of your plugin, though; I’ll see if I can find a better option for that specific quirk.

It’s definitely in the purview of the plugin… It should be preventing comments on any post type.

I’m not able to reproduce the issue when i test it, but if your developer is able to locate a bug in the plugin I will be glad to fix it.
