Putting Code In a Page – (to show plog posts)

I’m trying to set my site up so that the main page shows the 3 most recent blog entries – that’s pretty simple to do from the dashboard. But how do I set up another page called “Blog” that will show the 10 most recent posts with excerpts? I can’t just put the code in the page file because it isn’t recognized. Thanks guys
