Putting Blog on front page of existing site

Hi all. I did a search with no luck on this subject so I thought I would post.

I installed WordPress in a directory of its own but I would like to have the latest blog appear on the front page of my existing site (index.htm in my root dir). How do I go about doing this?

Is there a way to get the latest blog in that page with some sort of code? I may even want to put the last 3-4 blogs in there. I don’t want to use the WordPress index.php as my website’s homepage. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.
