Put a version number header in each file

  • This is a bit of work, but worth it.
    Could you put a version number header in the files. If a person downloads an alpha, they can see at a glance, what version of the code they’re using when providing feedback. And if the files ever get out of synch, and a person has problems, they can see immediately that’s what’s happened.
    Right now, there is no header in any of the files.

  • Well the Gemini series of alternative interfaces might seem verbose but this is one of the modifications that we have already included. When asked to provide support we can see at a glance which file is being used (assuming its not hacked). It certainly IMHO would be a very useful addition to the default and well worth the modest increase in bandwidth. If it is hacked that is the ideal place for the developer to so state.     Root, I think you misunderstood what Shelley is looking for. The version number of WordPress is already readily accessible through any of the feeds or the <head> of the document.
    Shelley, adding IDs to the files is a good idea, I’ll see what needs to be done.
