Pushing the envelope a bit — hybrid display

Hi!

Just started using the plug in and I’m impressed, but unsure if I can push the code a bit.

If you have a moment, take a quick look at https://www.bostonglobe.com/ and hover over a menu entry.

I would like to create a display that is embedded in a page (not in a menu) that looks like that. Say two large thumbnails on the left, each with the post title under, and then half a dozen posts listed in the right side of the frame.

I’m thinking this would require a template, but I don’t know if the template can stretch that far.

Any thoughts on how to approach this?
